Global Investors and Emerging GBS Trends: Event Summary from Pro Progressio Club in Gdańsk

Gdańsk has once again proven its position as a key hub on Poland's business map. On August 6, the summer edition of the Talks&Drinks with Friends series, organized by Pro Progressio, took place at the Chilliflex premises in the Ferrum building in Gdańsk. The event was held in partnership with Invest in Pomerania, Chilliflex, and BOLT for Business. Attendees included members of the Pro Progressio Club alongside numerous external guests, including business representatives from the United States, in honor of whom the official part of the event was conducted in English.

Pomerania Shifts Gears: From Cost Efficiency to High-Tech Leadership

The official presentation segment opened with a keynote by Rafał Kowalski from Invest in Pomerania, who highlighted the region's dynamic expansion. As he noted, Pomerania is undergoing a fundamental transformation evolving from an attractive, cost-effective destination into a critical node in global value chains. This development rests on three main pillars: the modern business services (BSS) sector, semiconductors, and the energy sector.

Among the region's standout investment successes, Kowalski highlighted the recent arrival of US fintech giant Acrisure, which plans to create up to 500 jobs over the next three years. Strategic investments by industry leaders such as Wärtsilä, LEO Pharma, and Royal Greenland were also featured.

In terms of advanced technologies, special attention was drawn to deepening ties with Taiwan, highlighted by the partnership between Gdańsk and Tainan City, as well as the establishment of the Taiwan-Poland AI Robotics Alliance and development plans for the Wojanowo Technology Park specializing in microelectronics. Furthermore, the expansion of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea and preparations for the region's first nuclear power plant are set to guarantee power grid stability for high-tech industrial projects and data centers.

Pro Progressio Updates and Market Outlook

Wiktor Doktór, CEO of Pro Progressio, addressed current trends in the Global Business Services (GBS) industry and outlined the organization's latest initiatives. He emphasized the ongoing strong interest in Poland among foreign investors and the steady growth across the modern business services sector.

The Pro Progressio Club community has recently welcomed several new organizations, including Olympus GBS from Wrocław, advisory firm Michał Krause Executive Advisory from Łódź, and startup Wonderful AI, which specializes in artificial intelligence solutions for the BPO/GBS sector.

Doktór also presented Pro Progressio's international roadmap, including the appointment of Peter Kiss as the organization's ambassador in Hungary. This move aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and monitor the local market following recent economic and political developments. Additionally, he pointed to growing demand from German enterprises actively seeking Polish partners and establishing operational hubs in Poland.

The event also served as a teaser for upcoming industry highlights, including the Leadwell conference for team leaders and operational managers, scheduled to take place in the Tricity area at the end of October.

Following the official presentations, attendees moved on to an interactive networking session, utilizing Chilliflex’s modern workspace to foster new business relationships and exchange market insights.
